Building a no-code membership site in under a week

IMG Pro · Website / Tooling · 2023

A startup my co-founder was also working with needed a website for a TradingView indicator.

Customers had to be able to choose a plan, pay through Stripe, log in, and then see pages based on the plan they had bought.

They also wanted the whole setup to be no-code, so the site could be managed by people on the team who were not developers.

An agency had already tried to build it, but the version they had was not ready to launch. They were also less than a week away from going live.

I had never built a membership site before, and this was one of the first full websites I had worked on. I asked for a few hours to see if I could find a setup that would work.

I spent some time looking into Stripe, membership tools, gated pages, and no-code website builders. I eventually found Memberstack through a YouTube video. It worked with Stripe and could handle the membership side, while Webflow could be used for the website.

The setup was:

Webflow → Memberstack → Stripe

I had not used Webflow before either, so I used Untitled UI as a starting point and kept the design simple. The main goal was to get the full flow working.

Over the next few days, I built the site, connected Stripe, set up the different plans, added member accounts, and made sure each plan could only access the pages meant for it.

The site went live in about a week.

It could take payments, manage members, show plan-specific content, and still be handled by non-technical people on the team.

It is still live today and has processed well over $100,000 in payments without needing a rebuild.
